the very first snow is falling it's been a long fall from the sky the leaves are still blue, orange, yellow and red they have the key to the sun just like those animals pray words not on a page but written in the days to the strangers in my blood and the strangers in the sky with their thoughts flying through time and by the Head of Days and by the sky's very eye the lightning is born both water in fire and fire in water the water does not quench the fire nor does the fire dry the water the lightning is brighter than the sun softer than water and firmer than rock
2.
Amarillo 04:41
Amarillo was the last town I could really call home I left Amarillo I was 3 months old Louisville, Damascus to Athens Kansas City, Baltimore between the towns go the roads and the oceans you carry what you own My assassin weeps for me somewhere in the Valley of Wounds while my father builds a monastery on the darkest face of the moon my teacher's in the tower ringin' the bells that toll doom my brother died and left me he hides in his tomb my mother hears voices but I know they ain't in her head because my sister reveals the gold hiding in the lead my baby sees grey skies behind sleeping eyes while my used to be's sing songs in the night in each town that I go to in each town I find that the so called good Lord is willing but the creek is still gonna rise that the Devil is so stinkin' rich that nobody's poor still someday I may never go home to Amarillo

Heart Healer 03:41
last dollar's leavin' me again I ain't surprised we weren't friends leavin' me for a lottery ticket leavin' me for a bottle of gin I'm lost in the noise with no way to tally the cost to every heart still beatin' broke or not's got to muscle across the landscape of this planet God-forsaken rage every dollar in the world fuck'em they're all the same trembling Earth consuming flame remembered and forgotten names destroyed and re-arranged loves lost and love's remains
5.
can't stop the brakes are gone they melted off into ash I cross the horizon right between the truth and the facts this world is beautiful but the mind is a trap sleepless dreamers lie awake beneath waves of rippling heat alive and aware dreaming, never falling asleep every moment of existence may be sheer insanity be calm and be still the Crescent Queen assembles her court in the darkening sky her cryptic face a jigsaw puzzle of shadow and light a glowing eye in the shadow of a ruined world a corpse burning on the road of night you got to check on the head arrangements all over the map I tune into the radio I tune into the suicide stats this world is beautiful but the mind is a trap
6.
Ancient Days 05:05
the room was empty at dawn pure mind absolved of form strange music of instinct trace a faint line of sight a hazy grace ancient days holy days I can hear beyond the walls but I can't see through them to where desire's image is spoken fear's rivers frozen and memory's limits broken ancient days ancient days in the garden of the Empress blows a breeze poison blossoms swarm with bees a love, forever new, reflection sees Death, gone crazy, harvesting meat a cryptic beauty stands before her door dark figures passed out on the floor bleeding hydenelum deep in the forest weeps weeps for the secrets the Crescent Priestess keeps ancient days holy days now the melted river flows by the light of The Star Temperance of Souls pours from her jars Strength brings peace to the screaming lion's jaws as the Queen of Fire breaks curses and blesses the scars ancient days holy days

Earthrise 06:20
I'm traveling high inside of a raining cloud lined in silver, drenched in sound but the map below's gone blank redacted and blacked out the rain pours down on the burial mound sanity, like sand, slips through our trembling hands as the music of extinction rolls over the land lifetimes inside the spiraling staircase unwind I'm traveling by night to the day of light at Earthrise alive, she finds the comical Eluesis center for commission on circular data at angular intervals of her mind knock, knock, knocking from the other side of Death's door tapping out the tempo in time one, two, three, four Spring, Summer, Winter, Fall, fall away pack it all up again cause there ain't no place for you to stay lifetimes inside the spiraling staircase unwind I'm traveling by night to the day of light at Earthrise Time wears a clock-faced mask but its melted on the altar the glass is indeed half full but its blood not water put on your death cap head for the blank spot on the map travelin' hard from can 'til can't with my life in my hand goin' up around the bend ridin' on them shifting sands the time is infinitely beyond telescopic midnight in all directions lifetimes inside the spiraling staircase unwind I'm traveling by night to the day of light at Earthrise

about

The Lodestones consist of an ever expanding collection of songs by singer/songwriter Jeffrey Rocketmild Jefferson, which are performed here by himself, Dena Goldsmith Stanley, Idaho Joe Winslow, and Gerald Herman-Blue. Far from being a genre re-enactment, the Lodestones are just what they are. From performance art to folk, rock, poetic song verse, to even noise and country blues, The Lodestones sail freely across sonic song-space, continually inhabiting unpredictable song-vision and performance permutation.

"Exile on Earth" finds them as a full band, in a laid back, sur-rural, almost stoner country slow ride mode, with breezes of drifting pedal steel and rip-tides of Fender Rhodes, propelled by inspired lyrical labyrinths alternating between melancholic mysticism and subtly sarcastic riddle-jokes. There's a dusty, hallucinogenic jukebox in a nowhere cafe bar, where this record plays in a dream. "On the Beach" vibes but dark and strange.
