We entered the sewer tunnels through the backyard of one of my childhood homes in the suburbs, with bags full of spray paint. In my youth I had witnessed the bizarre symbols and defacings in these very tunnels with a sense of excitement, terror, and awe, like an explorer discovering a cave of ancient ritual art. I assign these sewer tunnels as subconscious rivers of the suburban mind, where juveniles manifest their signposts, uninhibited by parental control. Were the dead snakes and bats nailed to the walls of "the Gallery" ever really therel? Is my childhood memory becoming distorted and exaggerated? Stuart and I modified the psychic undercurrent of the neighborhood with our sacred cave paintings, and I joined in the succession of the older kids who sprayed anarchy signs down in the storm drain tunnels I explored as a child. Some of these magical images are depicted on the cover of the tape.
